Miley Cyrus has a reputation for mixing [article id="1717301"]amazing throwback covers[/article] into her live sets. From her patented take on Dolly Parton's "Jolene," to rips through Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell," Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and, well, c'mon, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" at the MTV VMAs, Miley knows how to pick 'em.
But in an unseen clip from her MTV "Unplugged" special, instead of going into the way back machine, Miley dipped into her bag of tricks for a recent hit from England's Arctic Monkeys, "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High."
The late night drunk dial lament gets a slinky, jazzy facelift in Miley's hands, as she slows down the already crawling pace and adds a sultry vibe to the tune's bleary-eyed lyrics. "The mirror's image/Tells me it's home time/But I'm not finished/'Cause you're not by my side," Miley croons as she strips off a silver jacket to reveal a matching bikini top and ripped jeans.
Grinding her hips to the song's molasses drip tempo, Miley turns the song's original complaint into more of a come-here-now-go-away command, bringing it all home with a powerhouse vocal wail on the song's chorus. "Thank you MTV, for letting me of all people, go unplugged. That's brave," she says at the end.
