Before you get too deep into this, make sure you have a box of tissues at the ready. Got 'em? Good. Because the first official trailer for "The Fault in our Stars" is here, and it's going to make you feel all the feels.
In case you haven't already wept over the John Green young adult novel upon which the movie is based, here's the quick version: Hazel Grace Lancaster (played by your BFF Shailene Woodley) has cancer. So does Augustus Waters (up-and-comer Ansel Elgort), but a different kind, and in remission. They bond over many things, including living with cancer (the illness aspect of the story isn't shied away from in the book, nor does it look like it will be in the movie, considering the tagline on the poster is "One Sick Love Story") and their mutual love of a book written by the reclusive Peter van Houten.
They fall in love, visit Amsterdam and face tragedy, in that order. (It's a movie centering on cancer and the characters' lack of belief in a happy ending, you do the math.)
That said, you're going to want to hydrate to prepare for the tears. As Hazel says in the trailer, "I believe we have a choice in this world about how to tell sad stories." "The Fault in our Stars" seems to be gearing up to tell it so sadly and so gorgeously. We predict that between your tears of sadness, you may experience tears of happiness, as well as some tears to condition your tear ducts for more crying. Think of the movie's June 6 release date as the Olympics of weeping endurance, and this trailer as your first day of training for competition.
As Hazel and Augustus say: Okay? Okay.
