Katy Perry, Lorde, More Reveal What Inspired Their Grammy-Nominated Songs

Song Of The Year nominees, like Katy and Lorde, dish to MTV News about the tracks, all up for Grammys at Sunday's broadcast.

It takes a very special song to earn a Song Of The Year Grammy nomination. And, the songs nominated at the 2014 Grammy Awards are no exception to that rule.

So, what songs have earned a nomination this year? The contenders include “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink featuring Nate Ruess (from Fun.), “Locked Out Of Heaven” by Bruno Mars, “Roar” by Katy Perry, “Royals” by Lorde and “Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

MTV News had the pleasure of speaking to the A-listers who recorded those tracks ahead of the big show this weekend. We got the inside scoop on the making of those singles and what those artists were really thinking about when they recorded those songs.
