Khalil Sharieff: Justin Bieber's Drag Racing Pal Is An Aspiring Pop Star

Bieber's friend and singer, Khalil, was also put in cuffs after sharing photos of their escapades on Instagram.

Looks like Justin Bieber's

pals (and self-proclaimed scapegoats), Lil Za and Lil Twist, finally caught a break since they weren't around when the pop star was arrested on drag racing and DUI charges in Miami early Thursday morning. Former Def Jam signee, Khalil, on the other hand, found himself in cuffs along with the 19-year-old.

Bieber was pulled over while cruising through Miami in a yellow Lamborghini with model Chantel Jeffries. He was arrested after refusing to cooperate with police and was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

Khalil Sharieff was also arrested, just a few hours after posting an Instagram photo of himself behind the wheel of a Lamborghini with the caption, "Miami nights ridin thru yo city in that hot wheel." All evidence of the wild night disappeared from Bieber's Instagram account, but all of Khalil's photos remain, including another shot of Justin riding in the yellow Lambo with Jeffries.

Khalil, 19, is a singer who was signed to Def Jam Records in 2008, after uploading a demo video and landing an audition with former label president L.A. Reid. Although he opened for Usher on tour and was featured on three tracks on Lil Twist's 2011 mixtape The Golden Child, his own album was never released. He reportedly ended his Def Jam contract around 2011, the same year Lil Twist was featured in his video for the single "Lil Mama." The most recent release on his VEVO channel is the June, 2013 video for "Stars," which has racked up just under 275,000 views.

A closer look at his Instagram account finds that he and Bieber have been inseparable for the past few months. In addition to a close-up shot of The Biebs fast asleep with the caption "Wake up sleepy head," posted three weeks ago, there's a photo of the two artists posing with Meek Mill along with snaps from Bieber's trip to the Philippines in December, where he played a special show for fans after typhoon Haiyan.

The last tweet Khalil shared before his arrest clearly proved that he was having a good time. "Just livin life, blessed," he wrote.
