'The Originals' Star Picks The Newest Addition To The Cast: R. Kelly?

Charles Michael Davis breaks down for MTV News what's to come and makes his case for an R. Kelly cameo.

Now that the action is in full swing on "The Originals," it's safe to say that no one is actually safe.

And after an unexpected alliance was made on Tuesday night's midseason premiere, star Charlie Michael Davis says there are still "big changes" in store, with "characters coming in, characters dying, characters coming back to life, dying again and coming back to life."

And one of those major changes will take place between former lovers Davis' Marcel and Rebekah (Claire Holt). "The secret between Marcel and Rebekah -- that's one that really changes things up. It's one of those things with anything that you hide, there's a lot of energy that goes into keeping the secret then once it's out in the open," he said. "It's one of those things that really shifts things."

Speaking of Marcel and Rebekah, the two sexy vamps have spent the season playing cat and mouse with one another. So, will they hook up again or will she try and take him down for good? Davis says we'll see Rebekah "take her power back."

" You know it's one thing when your heart says something and your mind says something else, which is a theme that we've heard from before from such people as R. Kelly," he teased. "There's a lot of tangents and a lot of wisdom we can learn from the early '90s."

Of course, that means fans will likely travel back in time to learn more about their relationship, as well as the characters themselves during flashbacks. No word on if those flashbacks will include a trip back to the 1990s, but Davis thinks his vampy small-screen persona, Marcel, might have been a big fan of Kells if you caught up with him back then.

"They're huge romantics. I know Marcel went through an R. Kelly phase. I know he was listening to 'Feelin' On Yo Booty' and he was dancing to 'Happy People' and I'm sure it reminded him of Rebekah," he said.

So, might the show cast Kelly in the future? If, "New Girl" can nab Prince, anything is possible.

"Oh my god! He'd be a great vampire or great old-school witch. Probably not a werewolf. I'm not leaning towards werewolf," he said. "He would actually make a really good vampire, like wearing those sunglasses."

"The Originals" airs on the CW on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
