Finally, after days of teases and build-up, the first full trailer for the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" has arrived — and, well, it's a lot.
The upcoming season takes place in the aftermath of the Red Wedding, the crushing defeat of Robb Stark and the Northern army at the hands of Walder Frey and House Lannister. King Joffrey continues his horrible reign in King's Landing, but multiple forces are moving to make their plays for the Iron Throne. In the north, Mance Rayder and his army of wildlings march toward the great Wall of Westeros, defended by Jon Snow and the thinning ranks of the Night's Watch. Further east, Daenerys Targaryen takes her war on the slavers of Essos to the city of Meereen.
And that's just the events at a glance, not even scratching the surface of what was glimpsed in the trailer. We got our first look at Prince Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper of Dorne, destined to become the season's breakout star. We saw bits and pieces of the Battle of Castle Black, season four's answer to season two's Blackwater. We saw political intrigue in Meereen and King's Landing alike. We saw Jaime's golden hand, the beginning of the Purple Wedding, and more.
In short, there was a lot, too much to process in one viewing. In fact, let's go back and hit play one more time, shall we?
"Game of Thrones" returns on April 6.
