Just when you thought it was over, Yeezus has gone and risen from the dead. Yup, Kanye West is back in 2014 with even more dates in support of his album of the year coup.
’Ye initially wrapped up his North American Yeezus tour at the end of December 2013, taking the stage for an epic nearly 30-minute stream of consciousness in which he, among other things, promised to stop saying negative things in 2014. “This might be the last time y’all hear me talk sh– for a long time,” he said. “Might be another, like, six months. At least. You’re just gonna have to run back the interviews and sh– if you wanna hear some realness.”
Well, while we wait for those six months to be up, Kanye has added another smattering of tour dates — beginning on February 2 — across the East Coast, wrapping for the time being on February 23 in New York. European dates are likely expected soon.
Although Ye did vow back in December to nix the negative rants while in the public eye, these new tour dates hint that he might be up to his old tricks come February — each show does usually include a lengthy riff on whatever it is that’s on Kanye’s mind.
“So I’m letting you all know that this is the last Yeezus show,” Kanye told the audience back in December, “and this is the last time you’ll ever hear me say [anything] negative about anyone.”
Well, half of that statement has thus far proven to be untrue…
