It seems that 13 is a lucky number for fans who are eagerly waiting for the duet featuring Shakira and Rihanna. Rihanna confirmed on Monday (January 6) that "Can't Remember To Forget You" will hit the streets on January 13.
Rih is featured on the song, likely the first official single off Shakira's forthcoming 2014 album release.
Believe it or not, Pitbull first teased fans with the idea that Shakira and Rihanna had recorded a duet for the Latina pop singer's forthcoming album release. Mr. Worldwide let the cat out of the bag when he shared that he originally wanted Rihanna to record the hook on his recent single, "Timber," featuring Ke$ha.
"That is an ironic situation there. The person we were looking at first to work on that record was actually Rihanna, and Rihanna had something she had to do with Shakira, so she wasn't able to work on our record," he shared in a radio interview last month.
News about Shakira's next album, the follow-up to 2010's Sale el Sol first broke in December around the time she revealed she had shot a video with Joseph Kahn, without sharing which song they shot the visual for.
In addition to the Shakira/Rih collaboration, both ladies have other projects in the works. DJ Mustard confirmed on Friday that Rihanna has started work on her next album, the follow-up to 2012's Unapologetic. Meanwhile, Shakira will be back on "The Voice" as a coach when the show returns for its sixth season on February 24. Usher is also making his return, filling in the spots vacated by coaches Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera.
