While 2013 has been a busy year for Usher, with a coaching spot on "The Voice" and an upcoming movie, "Hands of Stone," one thing has been missing from the R&B star: new music.
Well, get ready, Usher fans, because all of that is about to change in the coming weeks.
"[You're] going to hear some new music at the top of the year," Usher told MTV News on the purple carpet of his protégé Justin Bieber's documentary "Believe," which hits theaters Christmas Day.
Usher's friend and Bieber's manager Scooter Braun interjected, "I've heard Usher's music — get ready."
Not much is known about the upcoming music. But the "Climax" singer, who admitted that he's "in the studio working right now" on the follow-up to his 2012 effort, Looking 4 Myself, has posted on Instagram several photos of himself throughout the year, most recently on Friday (December 20), including shots of himself in the studio with Pharrell and T.I.
And it seems the focus is now shifting solely to music after Usher had to lose more than 30 pounds to portray boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in the 2014 flick "Hands of Stone."
"You guys have probably been following me on Instagram so you see my Afro and my six-pack," he said. "So I'm getting out of Sugar Ray Leonard mode and into Usher Ray mode."
While fans count down to new music, they will also get their Usher fix when he returns, along with Shakira, to "The Voice" for the show's sixth season. He's not looking forward to sitting near Adam Levine, however, since Levine will most likely be bragging about his recently crowned winner, Tessanne Chin.
"You have no idea what it's going to be like to deal with him now," Usher joked.
