Miley Cyrus has made it clear that she's not only to play by the rules. That includes the image she chose for her Christmas card to fans, which, well, did not feature a cutesy shot of her in a Santa hat twerking by the fire.
Okay, technically, there was a Santa hat photoshopped into the image shot in a snow-covered winter wonderland, along with a wreath, a snowman and a stocking. And yes, her ubiquitous tongue was wagging, but it was where she put her heart-shaped Christmas greetings that raised eyebrows.
"Merry Christmas ❤️❤️ THANK YOU NY for being one of the few states to @freethenipple," the singer wrote along with a pic of her raising her shirt and exposing her (barely-covered) chest.
The topless salute was in honor of the independent film "Free The Nipple," which raises questions about the role of censorship in the U.S. media when it comes to female nudity, but not as much when it comes to violent imagery.
This is the second time in a week the singer has voiced her support for the film, which is struggling to get a wide release because of its NC-17 rating.
