These days, Miley Cyrus is basically a walking canvas, with 19 (or maybe 20?!?) tattoos strategically located all over her body. But there was a time when the very idea of getting inked freaked her out something fierce.
As you'll find out on [article id="1717920"]"21 Candles: Miley's MTV Moments"21st birthday[/article] — when she stopped by "TRL" in 2008, she made it clear that she had no intention of getting a tattoo ... mostly because she was absolutely terrified of needles.
"I am, like, freakishly afraid of needles; I hate them so badly. They could be like 'This is going to give you 400 years to live,' and I wouldn't do it, I'm like way too scared," she said. "So, I don't know if I could [get a tattoo], but my dad wants me to get a buffalo on the back of my neck because — actually, I have no idea why. I guess I would do it for my parents."
Now that's love. Of course, as part of the "21 Candles" special, Miley re-watched all of her MTV moments and gave us the inside scoop on just what was going through her mind at the time. And though it should be fairly obvious now, let's just say that back in 2008, she wasn't exactly telling the truth.
"I was lying, I always knew I was going to get tattoos," she laughed. "I am actually terrified of needles. When I go to the doctor they look at me like I'm insane, because I try to kick them away from me, it's like I need to be sedated because I'm so scared. Then they look at my arms and they're like 'You're all tattooed.' I just don't like shots, and the doctor's office is just cold, it's much cozier in a tattoo parlor."
