Memories of high school usually involve petty disagreements, tight pants and boy problems. The characters of "Vampire Academy" fall right in with those trends ... only suckier.
Get it? Because they're vampires.
The newest trailer for "Vampire Academy," the movie adapted from Richelle Mead's young adult series of the same name, gives us more of the high-kicking, hair-flipping action that we saw in the first trailer for the film, but this time it has new notable quotables. For example, do you need to explain why one of your lady pals is acting a little off-kilter? This new trailer has the reason: "A female, especially one who lives off of blood and magic, is definitely going to have her mood swings."
Lest you think this is another sucky teen vampire movie — well, you're technically right (after all, there is bloodsucking and it is about teens), but the premise is notably un-"Twilight." Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) is a sort of BFF/bodyguard to Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry). Rose is half vampire, half human, and Lissa is all vampire, all royal and, interestingly, all mortal. Lady just happens to feed on blood. They go to school, because education is important, even for those with a high-iron diet, and together, they try and stop the bad kind of vampires, who are immortal and want to take over, natch.
"Vampire Academy" is due out in theaters February 14, for a very bloody Valentine treat.
