Jennifer Lawrence Fans In Paradise Over ‘East Of Eden’ Casting

The actress work with 'Hunger Games' director Gary Ross on the latest adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel.

Jennifer Lawrence is re-teaming with “Hunger Games” director Gary Ross for a remake of the classic James Dean flick, “East of Eden.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence will play a younger version of the story’s mother, Cathy Almes, a role originated by Jo Van Fleet in the Elia Kazan-directed 1955 film. Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment are onboard to produce, but no one has been confirmed to pen the script.

The movie is based on John Steinbeck’s iconic 1952 novel, which revolves around families in Southern California before World War I and is loosely based on the biblical story of Cain and Abel.

Fans are pretty excited to hear that Lawrence and Ross will be working together again on the big screen after he left the “Hunger Games” franchise in April 2012 to focus on other projects. He was replaced by Francis Lawrence , who not only tackled the upcoming “Catching Fire,” but is also set to direct the final two flicks in the franchise.

According to Deadline, the twosome may also team up for a big-screen adaptation of Hannah Kent’s book “Burial Rites,” about a young woman accused of murder in Iceland in 1829.

Lawrence has a pretty busy filming docket ahead of her. She has yet to film the last two “Hunger Games” flicks, and “Catching Fire” is slated to open on November 22. It was just confirmed that Christina Aguilera has a song on the soundtrack , joining Coldplay on the release.
