All aboard — the next stop on the Dauntless train is Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

“Divergent” stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James will exclusively debut the official first look from their action-thriller during the VMA pre-show, airing August 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. And we’ve got a sneak peek at the footage, which also features Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet in her role as Jeanine Matthews. Watch the preview below!

Divergent is a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

“Divergent” opens March 21, 2014.

In addition to his VMA pre-show appearance, James and co-star Miles Teller will sit down with MTV’s Josh Horowitz for a 30-minute interview on Saturday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET as part of the VMA All Access live stream leading up to the big night.
