Austin Mahone is ready to pop and lock his way through a city near you this fall. The VMA-nominated singer will kick off his first-ever headlining tour, sponsored by MTV’s Artist to Watch, on October 17 in Miami.
“MTV has supported me from the very beginning, even before I had a label. They’ve been right there with me and I appreciate that a lot,” Mahone said of the tour. “I’m so excited to be headlining my first tour and I can’t think of a better partner than MTV.”
The trek will make its way around the U.S. with stops in Philly, New York and Boston, among others. Ahead of the tour, Mahone is nominated for an Artist to Watch, Presented by Taco Bell Moonman at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards for his Colin Tilley-directed video for “What About Love.” The VMAs will go live on August 25 live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. He opened up to MTV News about the nomination last week.
“Oh man, I don’t even know where to begin. I mean, I never thought I’d be nominated for a VMA. So, I mean, this is a huge honor. I’m just honored to even be going there. I’m excited and I’m ready to go,” he said. “It’s a huge honor to be nominated for Artist to Watch. It means I’m getting noticed out there and I’m getting that exposure. I’m pretty excited and I really can’t wait to go and hang out.”
