Lil Snupe, the 18-year-old rapper signed by Meek Mill's Dreamchasers imprint late last year, has reportedly been shot and killed.
Details of the homicide were still sketchy at press time, but the Louisiana native's manager, Leem7st, confirmed the reports with a cryptic tweet early Thursday morning (June 20), expressing shock following a call he'd received that his client had died. "The call I got this morning is un real RIP 2 my Lil n---a lilsnupe," Leem7st tweeted.
Meek Mill has yet to confirm the reports of his flagship artist's demise, but before the shooting, he sent out a frantic tweet urging anyone to have Snupe contact him. "tell lil snupe hit me up right now!!!" he tweeted.
The R.N.I.C. MC passed his demo to Meek during a Louisiana tour stop in 2012, and he was signed to the MMG rapper's label in less than an hour. "He was in a van, they was finna pull off. And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me," Snupe told MTV News back in February during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Meek was drawn to the young spitter's talent on the spot and wanted to cultivate it. "He was spittin' so much pain, he's from the south with a flow like an east coast guy," Meek said. "Like with that bounce flow, all over the place, he really can spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him."
D. Bradford, the contact agent on Lil Snupe's Twitter page, had not responded to MTV News by press time. This story is developing.
