As if the MTV Movie Awards weren't fast and furious enough already, this year's show put the excitement into higher gear with a brand new clip from "Fast & Furious 6," the latest installment in the high-octane action franchise.
The four key players from the "Fast" franchise — stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster — were all on hand to present the clip, a quick 30-second sneak peek at all of the adrenaline-pumping action the sixth movie in the series has in store for fans. At the top of the clip, Diesel's character — Dominic "Dom" Toretto, street racer and career criminal — states the obvious and the awesome: "We're going to need cars. Make sure they're fast."
As requested, the fast cars come flying in, with Dom getting behind the wheel and speeding off into action. We see quick glimpses of the latest "Fast and Furious" film's London setting, as well as a brawl between Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as federal agent Luke Hobbs and an unknown assailant. When last we saw him in "Fast Five," Hobbs had gotten into an epic knock-out fist-fight with Dom — but this time, the clip shows Dom helping Luke in his latest fight, implying that their feud is a thing of the past.
Also included in the clip: Walker's character, former lawman Brian O'Conner, using a car to crash an airplane. So, yeah, that's a thing that happens.
Following the presentation of the clip, Diesel pointed out an interesting piece of trivia for the audience: 11 years ago, Diesel and Walker were the winners of the Best On-Screen Team for the original "Fast and the Furious" at the 2002 MTV Movie Awards. Based on what we've seen of their latest team-up, we wouldn't be surprised to see Diesel and Walker nominated again in 2014.
"Fast & Furious 6" roars into theaters on May 24, 2013.
