The cameras may have stopped rolling on the "Jersey Shore," but that doesn't mean the party's over! Seaside Heights alum Vinny Guadagnino is gearing up for red carpet co-hosting duties when the 2013 MTV Movie Awards Pre-Show kicks off on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.
And because hosting has its perks, Vinny — who'll give fans a sneak peek of his talk show, "The Show With Vinny," on Sunday — got to tour the Sony Studios days in advance of the ceremony and check out where all the stars will be sitting during the main show. However, it turns out the seating arrangements didn't quite live up to Vinny's expectations.
"There's something that I have to change: My girlfriend, Zoe Saldana, is sitting next to Samuel L. Jackson. Who ever heard of Samuel L. Jackson? She should be sitting next to this guy right here," Vinny said, pointing to himself.
Vinny wasn't alone, though, on his trip to Los Angeles for the Movie Awards. As viewers of "The Show With Vinny" will soon learn, the star's family is always close by, so Mom Paola and Uncle Nino tagged along as Vin prepared to flex his hosting chops. The trio tried to explain what viewers can expect from the show, which premieres May 2. In a departure from your average chat-fest, Vinny invites a big-name celebrity to his home on Staten Island in New York to do something that's both intimate and normal: share in the Guadagninos' weekly Sunday dinner tradition.
"They act like you've never seen them before; like really cool, regular people," Vinny said of his celeb guests.
And although Vinny's name is technically the only one in the title, every member of his family has a role. Paola cooks a huge meal and has to tailor her traditional, hearty Italian fare to the gluten-free and sensitive palates of the stars that stop by.
"I don't feed them," Paola made clear. "I cook for them, and then they eat on their own. But I will feed them if I have to."
As for Uncle Nino, he does more of what we saw from his visits to "Jersey Shore." "I terrorize them," he said. "I joke around. I offer 'em my wine."
Among the stars Nino gets to terrorize in Sunday night's preview are "Pain & Gain" co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Anthony Mackie, as well as singer Ke$ha. But the family (who bicker like any typical family) agreed that Lil Wayne was their most pleasant houseguest thus far. "He was the most respectful kid I ever met in my life," Uncle Nino said. "He was so respectful. He was a sweetheart."
"So beautiful," Paola added.
The preview episode of "The Show With Vinny" airs right after the Movie Awards, Sunday night at 11 p.m. ET/PT. The show officially debuts Thursday, May 2 at 10 p.m. ET.
