"American Idol" is running out of guys.

Devin Velez was eliminated from the competition during Thursday's (March 28) results show, the third week in a row a male contestant has been sent packing from the show. The competition's three remaining guys made up the bottom three on the show, as Velez was joined in the lower ranks by Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor.

Velez, the pointy-haired 18-year-old from Chicago, was also in the bottom the last two weeks; on Thursday's show, he was on the short end of the 26 million votes cast. After he sang for his life, Randy Jackson delivered the news that Velez would not be the recipient of the judges' save. "For us, unfortunately, it was not unanimous, we are not going to use it," Jackson said, silencing the audience who had been chanting for the save to be used.

Velez took his elimination in stride. "It's been an honor, man. You guys are the real people," he said, pointing to the audience. "As long as I leave with you guys and God, we're good."

Velez actually received high marks Wednesday for his version of the Miracles' "The Tracks of My Tears" during Detroit night. "Devin is back tonight, y'all!" Randy Jackson said after the performance, while Nicki Minaj told him he did an "amazing" job and Mariah Carey called his performance "flawless."

During his critique of the previous night's show, Jimmy Iovine said Velez did a "very good job," but said compared to everyone else, he came up short. Iovine said all three guys were hurt by their shaky group performance of the Four Tops' "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)," and he dubbed the trio of Taylor, Velez and Arbos "Wrong Direction." Iovine correctly predicted the guys would make up the bottom three, but he guessed Arbos would be voted off.

Meanwhile, it was all good news Thursday for the girls, especially Kree Harrison. After singing Aretha Franklin's "Don't Play That Song" on Wednesday, Harrison was surprised with a voice mail from the Queen of Soul during the results show. "Loved it!" Franklin said, while Harrison's mouth fell agape. "Smokey [Robinson] was right, you put that one away, and you're not going anywhere. I know you're going to be around. Much love to you."

Also on the show, the 450th episode of "Idol," Colton Dixon played his new single "Love Has Come For Me," OneRepublic and Katharine McPhee (introduced as "recording artist Katharine McPhee") performed "If I Lose Myself" and Keith Urban took a break from judging and performed his single "Long Hot Summer."
