Beyoncé may be representing for Houston in a major way, but Queen Bey hasn't forgotten about H-Town's underground kings.
This past Sunday, Bey dropped the Southern-dripped audio for her new single [article id="1703825"]"Bow Down/ I Been On,"[/article] and while many were taken back by the track's throw to Houston's infamous chopped-and-screwed sound, the global pop icon appears set to take things a step further by adding a number of Texas rap notables to an upcoming remix.
Scarface, Willie D., Slim Thug, Kirko Bangz, Lil KeKe and Port Arthur native Bun B will all show up on the "Bow Down" remix, according to a local reporter from Houston's FOX 26, Isiah Carey.
"A nationally known rapper told me he and a long list of other entertainers would be in the studio in Houston recording a remix for Beyoncé's controversial new song Bow Down," Carey wrote in a post on his personal site. "That person said it would be Slim Thug, Willie D, Scarface, Bun B, Kirko Bangz, and Lil KeKe." Carey mentioned that he had planned to keep the news quiet but changed his mind once photos from the studio session began to find their way onto Twitter.
The track, which features production from Hit-Boy, Timbaland and a host of others, plays out in two parts. On the first, Beyoncé commands her female adversaries to praise all that she's done, singing to them "bow down bitches." The "I Been On" half of the track finds her in full-on rap mode, however, spitting bars in a slow, pitched-down style of rhyme patterned after DJ Screw's syrup-soaked mixtapes from the 1990s. Bey also shouts out Geto Boys rap vet Willie D. and pays respects to the late Pimp C of UGK.
While Beyoncé nor her team have confirmed that an official remix is in the works, the reported lineup makes a whole lot of sense.
