Don’t get it twisted, the co-host of this year’s show (along with Tegan & Sara) wants to win the night’s biggest honor. But whether he ends up hoisting the lumber or it goes to one of his fellow nominees like A$AP Rocky, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Fun., Grimes, Walk the Moon or Kendrick Lamar, MGK is going to make the most of it.
“Whoever’s decision that was to nominate me for Woodie of the Year,” MGK said of the distinction before leaning in to give the camera lens a big smooch. “[It’s] so cool, dude. I’m so stoked. People that believed in me, I’m gonna make it worth it. I’m gonna continue to live up to all the accolades that we’ve been receiving.”
If he wins, he’ll be following in the footsteps of another hip-hop winner, last year’s champ Mac Miller. While Mac snagged the night’s top stump, MGK didn’t go home empty handed in 2012, snatching up the Breaking Woodie hardware in what might be a precursor to this year’s results.
