Megan Fox's days hanging alongside giant, fighting robots are long behind her — but there's still plenty of Bayhem ahead of the young actress.
On Thursday (February 21), filmmaker Michael Bay announced that he's reuniting with the first first lady of the "Transformers" movie franchise on [article id="1681886"]his upcoming reboot of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."[/article] At the time of the announcement, Bay kept his words short and to the point: "TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!" But reports are already stating that Fox is lined up to play April O'Neil, the most recognizable human character in the "Ninja Turtles" universe.
In previous film, television and comic book iterations of the "TMNT" franchise, April O'Neil works as a news reporter who comes upon the story of four mutated humanoid turtles with martial arts skills only as ferocious as their appetites for pizza and partying. O'Neil befriends the Turtles and serves as their closest human ally. The character has been portrayed in live-action movies by two different actresses, Judith Hoag in the original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie and Paige Turco in the two subsequent sequels.
For Fox, "Ninja Turtles" marks [article id="1639687"]a surprise reunion with Bay[/article], who is producing the upcoming reboot. After appearing in the director's first two "Transformers" movies, [article id="1639627"]Fox famously walked away from the franchise[/article] ([article id="1639605"]or was she dropped?[/article]) ahead of the third film in the series, "Dark of the Moon," amid [article id="1639672"]public and private disputes with Bay[/article]. According to The Hollywood Reporter, however, Fox and Bay buried the hatchet "over a series of recent meetings," including one meeting between Fox and "Ninja Turtles" director Jonathan Liebesman, "who wowed her with the storyboards," according to THR's sources.
With Fox in place, casting is now reportedly underway for the four central Ninja Turtles, with "relative unknowns" testing for the motion-captured roles.
