Looks like we weren't the only ones glued to the 2013 Golden Globes on Sunday night. For most of the show, #GoldenGlobes held it down on Twitter Trends, with #ShowUsYourGlobes making a guest appearance.
We break down the top five moments that attracted the most attention on social media:
If it was anyone's night, it was Jodie Foster's. The legendary actress began trending on Twitter the moment she stepped onto the red carpet in her custom blue Giorgio Armani gown. The speech she gave while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award brought her name right back to the top of the list. Confessing that she was "single," Foster then said she came out a "thousand years ago" and thanked her two sons, former partner and mother. Most fan reaction that followed included words like "inspiration," "strong" and "respect."
Tina and Amy
One thing everyone can agree on was that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hilarious as co-hosts. In their opening monologue, they compared the "Zero Dark Thirty" torture scenes to being married to James Cameron, discussed Anne Hathaway doing porn and joked that pre-Golden Globes were "The Hunger Games" and post-Golden Globes will be "The Life of Pi" — leading to #lifeofpie and "Tina and Amy" trending on Twitter.
Will and Kristen
The next funniest duo was "Saturday Night Live" alumni Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell. Everyone in the MTV Newsroom, as well as the crowd at the Golden Globes, were dying of laugher — except for Tommy Lee Jones. After his unimpressed face was caught on camera, his name blew up across social media. With comparisons to Grumpy Cat, we have a new meme!
Fittingly, on the night of the season-two premiere of "Girls," newcomer Lena Dunham won two Golden Globes! Her mother asked her to thank Chad Lowe in her speech, which led to his name, ex-wife Hilary Swank and #LenaDunham trending. BURN.
If fashion is your jam, fans had a handful of stars whose styles they had their eyes on. Who topped the list? Kristen Bell, Julianne Moore, Sienna Miller and Marion Cotillard. Who knows if they were the best-dressed, worst-dressed or most uniquely dressed.
And the award for most RTs goes to ... : While "Taylor Swift" and "Michael J. Fox's son" didn't trend on Twitter, this tweet got the most RTs for @MTVNews on Sunday night: " 'You stay away from Michael J. Fox's son!' says Tina Fey to Taylor Swift. Oh man. #GoldenGlobes #Swifties."
