One Direction Nab Second Million-Selling Album With Take Me Home

Boy band's sophomore album just crossed over the one million selling mark, ahead of their appearance on 'X Factor' on Thursday.

The only direction One Direction knows is to one million. The boy banders just achieved their second million-selling album thanks to their November album release, Take Me Home.

Back in March, the guys of 1D dropped their debut album, Up All Night Stateside, and it too passed the one milli mark. What makes the achievement even more impressive is the fact that they are the first act to sell like that since Kenny Chesney in 2005, who also had two brand-new releases sell more than 1 million in one year.

This week, Take Me Home just sold 1.04 million thanks to an additional 127,000 in sales. Currently their debut stands at 1.51 million. Those impressive sales numbers also place those two albums at #3 (Up All Night) and #8 (Take Me Home) on the best-selling albums of 2012, Billboard further reports. Adele sits at #1 with 21 (4.3 million units sold) and Taylor Swift is in second with Red (2.59 million units sold).

One Direction are MTV’s Best Boy Band Of 2012!

While 2012 is almost over, they will appear on the “X Factor” finale on Thursday (December 20) as the show crowns a winner. It marks their second appearance on the U.S. version of the show this season.

Once that appearance wraps up, the guys told MTV News they hope to just be able to go home to their native U.K. and relax for the holidays before 2013 kicks off. “I’m not really looking for anything for Christmas ,” Niall Horan explained. “I think we all kind of agree, we just like were all really looking forward to just going home and like spending Christmas with our family and friends, eating a lot, drinking a lot, sleeping a lot, just chilling. General chilling.”

But somewhere during that chilling or shortly thereafter, the guys are expected to drop their “Kiss You” video . They gave some lucky fans a preview, and in a behind-the-scenes video taken from the event, Directioners were treated to several peeks at the clip, which even features the guys surfing shirtless. The video is rumored to have a January 7 release date and this week they dropped a lyric video so that fans can learn every word ahead of the release.
