The guys of One Direction knew that getting the chance to become action figures was a once in a lifetime opportunity. But it also meant that they could finally be like their childhood idol, British action hero, Action Man.
So, when MTV News caught up with the fivesome to chat about the launch of the Hasbro dolls, Action Man's name was thrown around quite a lot. "That's what was really cool for us because we were all fans of Action Man and stuff when we were kids," Niall Horan dished, sharing that getting his own doll was getting the chance to see "you as Action Man."
The very mention of the character got all five guys pretty amped up. Harry Styles noted that his favorite version of the action hero "was Action Man who had the spinning arms and could spin."
"Or, the one that could crawl," Liam Payne added. "Oh! They only have Action Man in the U.K.? He's got hair like me!"
After the guys' initial dismay that Americans have yet to find out about the toy (we apologize for this), Liam offered up this explanation to anyone interested in knowing more about him. He said, "It's like G.I. Joe. They have G.I. Joe in America, don't they? They're like the same thing."
As it turns out, 1D fans can win a full set of 1D dolls during MTV News' "MTV's Take One Direction Home Sweepstakes." MTV News has one doll for each guy that we are giving away this holiday season. And, these aren't just any versions of the dolls; they have been signed by the entire group just for you!
It all kicked off on Monday (December 17) when we buried a clue somewhere and anywhere on MTV's website (that means there's the first clue floating out there right now!), kicking off an epic five-day scavenger hunt. If you've found the 1D logo, you know you're on the right trail. The five letters that will run on the site from Monday through Friday will all spell out a word that has something to do with the guys in One Direction.
Once the week of clues wraps up, one winner (who figured out the clues correctly) will be picked and have their own, signed 1D dolls sent right to their house. By the way, you can submit your answer on the MTV News Facebook page.
The term Take Me Home probably never sounded so sweet.
