Things are about to get a little freaky on "Catfish."
On tonight's episode, airing at 11 p.m. ET on MTV, Kya is dying to meet the love her life — and she didn't exactly find him on OkCupid.
"Kya and Alyx met on a website called Vampire Freaks," "Catfish" co-creator Nev Schulman told MTV News, name-checking the social-networking site for the gothic-industrial subculture. "So that was an interesting twist to the story that we'd never seen."
Since its 1999 inception, VampireFreaks.com has been linked to several violent crimes (to be fair, so have most social-networking sites), so Schulman and his "Catfish" partner-in-crime Max Joseph proceeded with caution when Kya contacted them.
"We brought some garlic and silver bullets," Joseph joked. "Mostly to kill Nev."
"More to cover the smell of Max's body odor," Schulman shot back.

On top of their rather dubious meeting spot, Kya also wasn't 100 percent honest with Alyx from the start. She admitted to Schulman and Joseph that, at the beginning of their eight-month relationship, she had initially catfished Alyx by posting fake profile pictures to Vampire Freaks, although she eventually came clean.
"Deception seems to be the biggest deal-breaker with people," Joseph said. "They can't get over the fact that someone lied. Or at least that's what they say. Maybe they're disappointed in the way the other person looks, and they say, 'Well, you lied to me, so I don't want to be with you.' But generally, the fact that someone could lie for so long about something is just a total deal-breaker, and they can't be with someone who lies like that. So in this case, when they were still together after Kya came clean about lying about her appearance, it was clear that their connection was stronger than having deception ruin it."
"In fact, I think Kya and Alyx's emotional connection may have been the strongest of any of the couples we helped out on the show," Schulman said.
Kya came clean, but what about Alyx — is he for real? Watch the first 10 minutes of the episode below, and tune in at 11 p.m. ET tonight for the full story.
