Kendrick Lamar Or Gotye? Celebs Pick Their Best Artist Of The Year!

'Hunger Games' star Josh Hutcherson, Jordin Sparks and more chime in on their picks for the 2012 title.

While MTV has compiled our definitive list of the Best Artists of the Year, a top 10 that includes viral sensation Psy and Rihanna, when we asked stars themselves for their picks, we heard some interesting choices.

Although many of the selections were on par with our list — I'm really digging Frank Ocean," Jordin Sparks told MTV News of our #6 pick — others brought some different, yet well deserved, names to the table.

"The Lumineers were definitely the artists of the year for me," "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson said of the 2013 Grammy nominees for Best New Artist.

Christina Perry backed Hutcherson's pick: "My favorite artist and song of the year is the Lumineers."

And though the Denver-based folk-rock act got lots of love, many of our interviewees agreed with Miss Sparks in giving kudos to the Channel Orange singer.

"I was a huge fan of Frank Ocean this year," Ne-Yo said of Ocean, who performed at the VMAs, opened up about his sexuality and nabbed six Grammy nominations in the last year alone.

Both the Neon Trees and the Backstreet Boys were getting down with "Somebody That I Used to Know."

"I think we all agree that Gotye is one of our favorites," BSB's Nick Carter declared.

But it was all about Kendrick Lamar for Disney star Roshon Fegan, who cited his main reason as, "Number one, just bringing that real, just West Coast hip-hop back."
