If you can compare the rap game to the NBA then DJ Khaled's Kiss the Ring LP is like the All-Star Game. With appearances from Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Chris Brown and T.I., just to name a few, it's not hard to argue Khaled's position as the ultimate hip-hop orchestrator.
For the video of his latest single "Models & Bottles," the loud and boisterous Khaled gathered Weezy, T.I., Future and Ace Hood on a Gil Green-directed set in Miami, Florida back in November. On Sunday, Khaled premiered the colorful and energetic clip on MTV 2's "The Week in Jams."
"This record's big in the club," DJ Khaled told MTV News of the track, originally titled "Bitches & Bottles" before he decided to push it as an single, which would serve better with a cleaner title.
"I wanted to drop this record because the streets picked it up when the album dropped," he explained of the booming, 808-heavy track. "When I went to the strip clubs, and the clubs and listening to mix show they were rocking this as well as 'Hip Hop' and 'They Ready' and all the other big records on the album."
Aside from the track's features, Birdman, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Mavado and Mike WiLL Made It were all on set and of course, there were the curvy models and plenty of bottles of Birdman's GTV vodka on display. "A lot of stars in a gritty environment with some beautiful models," Khaled said, describing the scene in the dusty Miami warehouse. "I told Gil I wanted it to look the way it sound."
