We have not been shy about our appreciation for the very dedicated "Twilight" fanbase, particularly during the last few weeks leading up to the release of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," the conclusion to a blockbuster franchise.
In knowing the level of commitment among the fans, we've come to expect their overwhelming support for Stephenie Meyer's fangtastic world, and whatever box-office records come along with it. That's why it comes as no surprise that thousands of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" showtimes across the country are already sold out.
According to Fandango.com, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," which opens around the country at midnight, represents a whopping 92 percent of Thursday's (November 15) ticket sales and has been among the top three ticket-selling films each day since tickets went on sale October 1.
"It's the most anticipated moviegoing event of the season," Paul Yanover, President of Fandango said in a statement. "And our surveys indicate that the action in 'Part 2' may be driving new moviegoers to see the grand finale."
Interestingly enough, when Fandango asked fans which aspects of the movie intrigued them most, the top choice was not wanting to see more Edward/Bella romance, which has been a top motivating factor in the past. The majority of fans surveyed (52 percent) said they're most looking forward to the action (48 percent were looking forward to the romance). Other highly anticipated film elements include Bella's transformation into a vampire and finally seeing the Renesmee in action, along with all the new vampires who join the fray this time around. In addition to Mackenzie Foy, Judi Shekoni (Zafrina), Lee Pace (Garrett), Patrick Brennan (Liam), and Rami Malek (Benjamin) are the top five new franchise actors that fans are most excited to see on the big screen.
Box-office prognosticators are expecting the film to make $130 to $150 million domestically this weekend.
