Edward Cullen Wins MTV's Twi-Fight: See Robert Pattinson's Reaction!

'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' actor Robert Pattinson accepts award on his character's behalf.

Much as Bella Swan chose Edward Cullen to be her one and only, so too have Twilighters picked the immortal beloved as the #1 character from Stephenie Meyer's canon — defeating 63 other vampires, werewolves and humans in MTV News' Twi-Fight Saga.

And, ironically, it was his true love whom he bested in the Championship Round, with nearly 70 percent of the vote. To be fair, the three-week-long tournament, which netted more than 2 million votes from fanatical Twilighters, proffered few truly worthy contenders for the bloodsucker. He faced off against 16th-seeded Egyptian coven member Kebi in the opening round, advancing easily. He next defeated Volturi guard Alec, followed by nomad Peter. It shaped up to be a family feud in the Elite Eight, when Edward tangled with surrogate mom Esme, besting her easily before sideswiping Denali coven member Kate and moving forward to the Championship Round.

When MTV News caught up with Edward's real-life alter ego, Robert Pattinson, at the black-carpet premiere for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," the actor accepted the award with his usual wit and self-deprecating charm.

"I like that MTV just invents awards," Pattinson said with a laugh. "They have, like, six different things."

When our Josh Horowitz pointed out that he would get to keep his Twi-Fight trophy (unlike the Golden Popcorn that is temporarily whisked away following the presentation to be replaced by a permanent statuette), he seemed pleased.

"Everyone always steals those things from me," he said of the multiple MTV Movie Award honors he's accrued throughout the years.

As to the Twi-Fight performance of co-star Kristen Stewart's character, Bella, Pattinson was particularly smug. "Did she get second place?" he asked with a grin. "I want to see that. You have to call me back when that happens."

Pattinson, high on premiere adrenalin, had one final message for fans: "I hope you've enjoyed it. I don't know, I still feel so connected to the whole — what's the word? — the whole mass."
