For those of you feeling a Channing Tatum void since the man appeared in a dizzying array of movies, we're happy to bring your attention to an expertly crafted trailer for his next movie, "Side Effects." The flick features a slew of talented actors, including "Dragon Tattoo" star Rooney Mara, Blake Lively, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and it's directed by Tatum's "Magic Mike" director, Steven Soderbergh.
Just short of two minutes in length, the teaser opens with a voice saying a few words: "I loved everything about him. His hands, the way he smelled, he swept me off my feet." From there, we're introduced to a young couple in love (played by Tatum and Mara), but it soon becomes clear that the young woman is suffering from an unidentified mental condition. Jude Law, playing the very handsome psychiatrist, prescribes a new drug for Mara's character to try.
Everything appears to go back to normal at first for the happy pair, until Mara's character wakes up alone in her apartment one day to find that a murder has been committed in her presence — but she has no recollection of it. Could the medication she's been taking have had some serious side effects? While that's unclear, it definitely seems the psychiatrist might be very much involved with the mysterious turn of events.
As the trailer speeds to an intense conclusion, we realize that everyone's hiding a secret. In fact, there are some really sinister circumstances at play. The clip closes out with a thrilling tag line as the footage fades to black: "In some instances, death may occur."
"Side Effects" hits theaters on February 8.
