2 Chainz Has Three 'Dope' Songs Recorded For Sophomore Album

'I'm trying to turn in my album by April of next year,' 2 Chainz tells MTV News of his sophomore project.

2 Chainz's debut, Based on a T.R.U. Story, is less than three months old, and the Atlanta rapper's next order of business is rolling out a video for "I'm Different," but he's also set a date to turn in his sophomore album, and it's just about six months away.

"I'm trying to turn in my album by April of next year," 2 Chainz told MTV News after performing at Philadelphia's Powerhouse concert on Friday night. "It won't come out then but I'm at least trying to turn it in and set up for more tours because we enjoy doing live shows, so be looking out for more of that from the crew."

So far, 2 Chainz has banked less than a handful of new songs, but he's already got at least one solid feature locked down. "I have three songs already recorded and I have one feature on the song," he revealed. "I don't wanna put that out [yet]; you gotta wait, but it's dope."

Hopefully a spring deadline for turning in the album means that he'll be ready to drop another summer project, but in the meantime he's working with his artist Cap 1, on his upcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape, and the video for "I'm Different" is right around the corner.

"I'm shooting 'I'm Different' real soon," he said, noting it as the next video to follow his trippy "Birthday Song" clip. " I wrote the treatment for that and I'm really excited to continue pushing the envelope and giving the fans something to see, some excitement again, really building that curiosity up with hip-hop again -- I'm happy to be one of the frontrunners for that campaign."
