Muse Set First North American Dates For The 2nd Law Tour

EMA performers will hit U.S. on March 2 with a show in Detroit.

Muse released the initial dates for their 2013 tour in support of their just-released sixth album, The 2nd Law. The British trio will hit arenas across North America on the outing, which is slated to kick off on February 3 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme will play a string of Canadian dates before making it to U.S. shores on March 2 with a show at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

While more dates will be announced soon, the initial string includes shows at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden and the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Muse join Taylor Swift and No Doubt as the first acts confirmed to perform at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, which will air in the U.S. on Sunday, November 11, at 11 p.m. ET/PT on MTV2. Supermodel Heidi Klum has already been tapped to host the festivities, and additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

Taylor Swift and Rihanna are the two most nominated performers of the night with five and six nods, respectively. Swift and Rihanna will battle against each other for EMA supremacy in three categories: Best Female, Best Pop and Best Look.

Justin Bieber and Katy Perry (who has hosted the show twice before) are up for four prizes at the big show. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Lana Del Rey, Carly Rae Jepsen and Fun. will all see if they can take home one of the three awards they are each up for.
