Missy Elliott, Mona Scott-Young Remember Chris Lighty's 'Zest For Life'

'He worked hard for all of us,' Missy Elliott tells 'RapFix Live' about her former manager Chris Lighty.

Chris Lighty touched the lives of so many and his loved ones are pushing so that his legacy lives on. When Missy Elliott reminisced on her former manager, she just remarked on the work ethic he instilled in all of his artists. "He worked hard for all of us," said Missy when she appeared on Wednesday's (September 19) episode of "RapFix Live."

"He was just a go-getter," she said. "He's somebody that if anybody is trying to do management, A&R or whatever, I think you should know who Chris Lighty is."

Mona Scott-Young, Lighty's business partner in Violator Management just wants her friend to be remembered for what he did for the culture and business of hip-hop. "I don't think people understand the magnitude of who he was and what he contributed," she said after a surprise visit on the show. "His contributions are innumerable, and I'm still reeling from it. It just still seems surreal to me."

On August 30, Lighty was found dead at his Bronx, New York, apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators on the scene determined that the wounds were self-inflicted and the medical examiner later ruled Lighty's death a suicide officially. There have been reports that have pointed to Lighty's debt to the IRS and his troubling marriage as reasons why the industry visionary would take his own life, but many who knew Lighty downplayed his financial woes.

As a founder of Violator Management, Lighty guided the careers of 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes, just to name a few. Scott-Young, who has had a ton of recent success with her "Love & Hip Hop" reality television franchise, didn't get into the specifics surrounding the mogul's death, but instead chose to celebrate his life. "Just the gusto and zest for life, wanting to live every moment of it," she said before she began to trail off. "The idea that he is no longer here is just..."

"Sad," "RapFix" host Sway Calloway said helping her to finish her sentence.
