LOS ANGELES — Ladies and gentlemen, Pink has landed.
On Monday (September 3), while the majority of Downtown Los Angeles was drifting through a Labor Day haze, Pink was working overtime, soaring high above the city on a helicopter bound for Staples Center. After hovering for a few minutes (parking is always tough to find Downtown, even in a chopper), she finally touched down, jumped into a waiting SUV and was whisked off to rehearsals for her performance on Thursday's Video Music Awards. But not before she gave a triumphant wave to our camera (Of course MTV News was there the second she landed!)
Sure, there were probably less attention-grabbing ways to make rehearsal time (her arrival was certainly noticed by the folks Downtown), there definitely aren't many as fitting ... after all, no one has had more high-flying moments at the VMAs throughout the years.
Like the time in 2008, when she slid down a thin rope (and sent plenty of pyro skyward) during her performance of "So What" on Paramount's backstage lot. Or, her iconic, death-defying turn at the '09 show, when she wowed the Radio City Music Hall crowd with an acrobatic take on "Sober," one that featured no shortage of hair-raising, gravity-defying tricks (and, for the record, she still managed to sing the heck out of the song).
And while we can't tell you what she's got planned when she takes the stage at Thursday's VMAs, we're going to assume it'll match those previous performances in both scope and spectacle. Shoot, if it's even half as epic as her arrival, well, then we're all in for a treat. Hang on, Pink's coming.
