Exclusive: Red Hot Chili Peppers To Ring In New Year With Intimate Las Vegas Show

After playing arenas and festivals all summer, the Peppers will scale things down for a December 31 gig in Vegas.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have spent much of this year rocking arenas and massive festivals like Lollapalooza. But what if you could see the legendary rockers at a club ... on New Year's Eve?

A little more than 4,000 fans will find out what that feels like on December 31 when the Peppers play their first Las Vegas show in more than seven years. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will treat fans to an intimate (by Peppers standards) gig at the Chelsea, which has hosted previous NYE events by the likes of Jay-Z, Coldplay and Stevie Wonder. The concert will kick off at 10 p.m., with the band taking the stage at 11 p.m. and pausing briefly to ring in the New Year before getting right back to business.

If you can't get one of the coveted tickets to the show and you happen to be in Vegas you can still see the gig, as it will be broadcast by the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel on the resort's 65' outdoor digital marquee. Tickets for the show are $150 (plus fees) and will go on sale on Friday.

The band will continue their world tour in support of this year's in January when they head down to Australia and then South Africa for their first-ever shows in that country. In the meantime, fans can keep their eyes peeled for the latest in a series of [article id="1687587"]18 previously unreleased tunes[/article] from the With You sessions that began hitting stores on August 14. The bonus tracks, available digitally and on two-song seven-inch vinyl singles, feature cover art from microbiologist/surfer-turned-artist Kelsey Brookes.

That's not all, as they're also currently offering live downloads of a pair of recent hometown Los Angeles shows at Staples Center -- home of Thursday's 2012 MTV Video Music Awards -- and two gigs in Oakland, California.
