Katie Couric has lined up some big-name guests for her new talk show, simply billed "Katie," kicking off next month.
Airing September 10, the premiere will feature Jessica Simpson in her first on-air interview since giving birth to her [article id="1684216"]daughter, Maxwell, back in May[/article]. The episode will also feature an appearance from Sheryl Crow, who will talk about her [article id="1686628"]brain tumor diagnosis[/article]. She also wrote the theme song for the show, Ace Showbiz reports.
The former CBS anchor has also nabbed Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Barbra Streisand, Heidi Klum, Susan Sarandon, Chelsea Handler, "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara, fellow talk show host Wendy Williams and "50 Shades of Grey" author E L James to all make appearances during the show's premiere season.
Of her move to her own syndicated talk show after anchoring the evening news on CBS, Couric explained, "I had an ultimate sense of satisfaction. But I was not ambivalent about feeling this wasn't the place for me for the rest of my career. It wasn't the right environment for me. In terms of the atmosphere, it wasn't a good fit for my sensibilities and personality."
Before she sits down with Couric, Lovato will [article id="1692618"]perform during the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show[/article]. She will dazzle the crowd with her Unbroken track "Give Your Heart a Break." It all goes down on September 6 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET/PT. She'll get everyone amped before the main show kicks off live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
