Lil Wayne Calls Nicki Minaj Show 'Awesome' -- New York? Not So Much

'I think we made the most of it last week,' Weezy says of Nicki Minaj's Summer Jam make-up concert.

Lil Wayne has never been shy about expressing his disdain for New York, but that didn't stop Tunechi from rolling through the [article id="1691789"]Roseland Ballroom[/article] to rock the stage with Nicki Minaj.

"Flat out: I don't like New York," Weezy told MTV News on Monday night while in Las Vegas to introduce his new line of sneakers with [article id="1692161"]Supra[/article].

Wayne's distaste for the Big Apple performances is understandable, considering it was his 2007 gun arrest after a NYC show that led to his [article id="1651486"]2010 incarceration[/article].

Still, Tune had himself a good old time, rocking with Nicki during her free August 14 show, which was meant to make up for her missed [article id="1686561"]Summer Jam[/article] appearance back in June. "Last week was awesome," Lil Wayne said.

Nicki was scheduled for a performance at Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert in East Rutherford, New Jersey, back in June, but after the YMCMB Barb felt disrespected by a Hot 97 DJ, Wayne instructed her to pull out of the concert. In the aftermath, Nicki [article id="1686561"]promised[/article] her fans a free NYC-area show to help alleviate their disappointment and last week she delivered on her promise at Roseland, rocking her own set and then bringing out surprise guests Foxy Brown, Drake and Lil Wayne.

"You're not supposed to leave it at, 'Everything happens for a reason,' " Wayne said of how the failed SJ set turned into a blessing in disguise. "I believe everything happens for a reason and then you make the most of that reason. I think we made the most of it last week."
