JoJo Dishes About 'Buttoned-Up But Freaky' 'Demonstrate' Video

Singer tells MTV News 'there's a lot of freaky things going on in my mind' in her upcoming clip.

It's been nearly six years since JoJo has released an album, but now, she is back with a whole new sound and a whole new look. Gone are the teeny bopper, bubblegum pop days of "Leave (Get Out)" and in are the sultry, seductive sounds of "Demonstrate."

MTV News caught up with JoJo on Monday on the set of her video for "Demonstrate" in Los Angeles, where she showed off her sexy side as she brought the lyrics to her new single to life.

"I think the song 'Demonstrate' is kind of more ... it's buttoned up, but freaky at the same time," JoJo explained. "I'm basically saying, 'There's a lot of freaky things going on in my mind, but I'm not going to tell you, you're going to need to get over here so I can show you.' So there's kind of a cat-and-mouse game, I suppose, and that's kind of what's going on here. I wanted to show dancers doing their thing to this because I think even though this is a slow tempo song, there's absolutely a feeling of wanting to move to it."

Released last month, the track, which was produced by Drake's regular collaborator Noah "40" Shebib, is setting the tone for the rest of the material she has been working on, which has the singer taking a whole new approach.

"I'm headed in a new direction, so I wanted to start fresh with new everything," JoJo said to MTV News last month. " 'Demonstrate' just felt like how I want to continue on with this journey and the next step. For me, the third album is a really big moment in someone's career, so I wanted to make sure that we are leading off with the right thing."

And with this new direction she is taking, JoJo felt she had to go back to the start with her third album, even scrapping the original title Jumping Trains. No release date has been set for the album, which she said is inspired by the best-selling novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," but she hopes that people are already gravitating toward her new sound.

"I hope that people are feeling the direction. I like to think of it as CrazySexyCool -- that's kind of where I want to go with this album," JoJo said via Skype. "I want to make people feel good, I want my music to bring people joy and they can get lost in this world."
