In the Steven Klein-directed spot, Gaga wears latex — and in some cases nothing — as she commands a spaceship full of beefy guys. In the commercial, several images are intercut to weave together a sci-fi, Goth-style story where Gaga rises from the primordial ooze that is her black eau de parfum.
When she isn’t completely drenched in the oily black liquid, she’s standing alongside her army, embracing with one or two of them and looking generally fierce and glamorous in one of many space-age couture looks.
As the trailer comes to a close, little men are seen climbing a nude, oversize Gaga, a setup previously teased in an ad for the Mother Monster’s first foray into the world of celebrity-endorsed perfumes.
In the latest issue of Vogue, Gaga opens up about working with beauty brand Coty to perfect her perfume, making sure that while it looks black in the bottle, it sprays on completely clear. “The fragrance is called Fame. It must be black,” she said in the issue for which she graces the cover in a Marc Jacobs gown. “It must be enticing. You must want to lick and touch and feel it, but the look of it must terrify you.”
Little Monsters should also look forward to the release of her ARTPOP album . She announced the title just this month, via a tattoo, and the album is expected to drop in early 2013.
