'Glee' Star Joins Demi Lovato As Teen Choice Awards Co-Host

'Demi and I have been friends for years, and I'd like to thank her for letting me in on the fun,' Kevin McHale says of July 22 show.

Demi Lovato will be getting some help when she hosts the Teen Choice Awards. She will be joined by "Glee" star Kevin McHale, who will co-host the night's festivities with the "X Factor"

judge, Fox announced on Thursday (July 12).

"Demi and I have been friends for years, and I'd like to thank her for letting me in on the fun co-hosting Teen Choice 2012," McHale, who plays Artie Abrams on the show, said in a statement about the gig. "It's exciting to finally be working together professionally and I'd like to welcome her to the Fox family.

This is going to be a great show."

"Glee" is up for Choice TV Show: Comedy, and two of its stars, Chris Colfer and Lea Michele, are up for Choice TV Actor: Comedy and Choice TV Actress: Comedy, respectively. As for Demi, she's up for Choice Twit, a category that pits her against Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon and Ryan Seacrest.

Miranda Cosgrove, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Hayden Panettiere, Zoe Saldana, Damon Wayans Jr. and Shane West will all make appearances at the show. They join "So You Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley, who had been previously announced. There will also be performances by Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida and No Doubt.

The show will air July 22 on Fox, and in the lead-up, a new promo pic of Lovato standing next to the show's iconic surfboard award has been

target="_blank">released. In an interview backstage at "The X Factor," Lovato opened up about the gig.

"I'm feeling really, really excited. I'm really honored to be hosting it. I grew up watching it and now I'm gonna be hosting it, which is insane to me," she said in the clip "And being nominated is such a great feeling, so I'm really thankful for every teenager out there that's voted."
