Fabolous has been a little quiet lately, but he has a perfectly good explanation as to why he's been lying low. "Well, the album is on the way," the Brooklyn MC told MTV News as he walked the red carpet at the 25th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards in Los Angeles on June 29.
To Fab's credit, he did gift-wrap a mixtape filled with free material last Christmas, but [article id="1676593"]There Is No Competition 3[/article] was an appetizer for the upcoming main course: Loso's Way 2. "I gave that music just to keep the people fed. At some point they get starved, like, we need some music, so I gave them the TINC 3, and since then I've been working on the album," he said. "The whole process in between that, I've just been working on the album and getting it ready. The release should be top of fall."
The "Make Me Better" rapper's last studio album, [article id="1617641"]Loso's Way,[/article] came out in 2009. While the LP is arguably Fab's most mature work to date — thanks to songs like "Pachanga" and "Stay," a dedication to his son Johan — he expects to exhibit even more maturity on [article id="1676494"]Loso's Way 2.[/article]
"This one is really growth and evolution," he said. "I think people know what I do — they know I've been in the game for a minute, but you gotta continuously show that growth and show that you're bringing something. It's the same thing, it's the same steps over and over again, but you gotta make it look new."
Rather than flood the radio with disposable music, Fabolous is slow-cooking his next dish to ensure that it'll be something worth waiting for. "That's what I'm behind the scenes doing, just taking my time with it," he explained. "It's not a rush. If you want something of good quality, you gotta take your time with it."
