NEW YORK — On Monday night in Manhattan, some of Hollywood's most glittering stars gathered at the Mandarin Oriental to celebrate Cosmopolitan magazine's Fun Fearless Awards.
Jonah Hill, Dakota Fanning, Freida Pinto and Paul Rudd were among the honorees who were showered with accolades for their ability to be totally cool in everything they do. However, when it gets down to it, the big question is: Are you more fun or more fearless?
"I'm definitely more fun than I am fearless because there's a little blond-headed girl [wife Miranda Lambert] that scares the crap out of me ... but I do have lots of fun," "The Voice" judge and country music star Blake Shelton explained to MTV News on the red carpet.
"Fun" was the over-arching characteristic the guys at the event felt they most embodied. "I don't know, maybe fun," "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth said. "I get a little scared sometimes. A lot of things scare me. I think tigers scare me a lot and bears, lions and tigers and bears, wild animals ... not a bear [I can't fend off a bear]. We had a black bear on the 'Hunger Games' set and that was a little scary."
"More fun," "Grey's Anatomy" star Jesse Williams answered. "If I'm not having fun, there's not a whole lot of point in doing it. Fearlessness, that's something that at the right time [happens]."
Sprinkled in between interviews with the fun, fearless dudes, we caught up with some of the ladies who made their picks for the winners at the event. "Because I'm a huge 'Hunger Games' fan, Liam Hemsworth [is my pick]," "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale shared. "And I love [his girlfriend] Miley [Cyrus]. He moved here from Australia and is taking over America and he's not too bad to look at."
Rose Byrne had a more personal reason for her pick, her "Get Him to the Greek" co-star. "Jonah Hill's a lot of fun," she said. "And he's pretty fearless. I think his work is pretty fearless."
