2 Chainz Confirms 'New Home' At Def Jam

The label is 'where I've been comfortable with for a minute,' in-demand Atlanta MC tells 'RapFix Live.'

It's official: 2 Chainz has signed to Def Jam as a solo MC. After many rumors, much speculation and innuendo, 2 Chainz appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday (February 1) and finally spoke publicly about his new record deal.

"At the end of the day, my new home and where I've been comfortable with for a minute, is Def Jam," 2 Chainz revealed to "RFL" host Sway.

Chainz first gained rap notoriety — with the moniker Tity Boi — as one half of Playaz Circle, the rap group signed to Ludacris' Disturbing tha Peace record label via Def Jam. The group had a breakout hit, "Duffle Bag Boy" featuring Lil Wayne, in 2007, and in 2009, the Circle released their second LP Flight 360: The Takeoff, also on Def Jam. Flight 360 didn't perform as well as expected on the charts but that didn't stop Tity Boi from reinventing himself as 2 Chainz on Atlanta's underground rap scene.

Thanks to tapes like Codeine Cowboy and T.R.U. REALigion, 2 Chainz created quite the demand for himself. And as a testament to his current hotness, 2 Chainz's latest single, "Spend It," has spawned numerous street versions with the likes of Fabolous, Trey Songz, Rick Ross giving it their own spin; Chainz tapped T.I. for the official remix.

Now that the ink is officially dry on his label deal, the Atlanta rapper is relieved that his secret is finally out.

"I had to get that off my chest," he said.
