Avicii Hopes To Catch Up With Tiesto At Tomorrowland Fest

Swedish DJ/producer promises to drop brand-new music at Belgian dance-music festival, featuring David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and more.

One of Europe's biggest dance-music events is just two days away, and already the Tomorrowland Festival in Boom, Belgium, falls in line with global powerhouses like Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and New York City's Electric Zoo.

What sets Tomorrowland apart is its fairytale theme, with stages and tents that seem to be taken right out of "Alice in Wonderland." It's also an occasion for the biggest dance-music stars in the world to rock tens of thousands of attendees with big tunes and yet-unreleased monsters-in-the-making.

"I've never been," Swedish DJ/producer Avicii told MTV via Skype. "It's a completely different world, and I've been told to expect a sh--load of people! I've seen videos from [David] Guetta last year, when the whole crowd is moving as one. It's so f---ing rad!"

With a roster featuring almost every major dance-music brand, the crowd this year will no doubt be enormous. Swedish House Mafia, Kaskade, Dirty South, Tiësto, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Martin Solveig, Wolfgang Gartner, Laidback Luke and Guetta are just a few of the artists who will be spread across a dozen performance areas at the weekend festival.

And as we can attest, most electronic dance music artists are definitely [article id="1635671"]"bros"[/article] -- global touring buddies and collaborators rarely in the same place at the same time. And for Avicii (real name: Tim Berg), he's already looking forward to seeing one old friend in particular at Tomorrowland.

"Tiësto," Avicii exclaimed. "I really miss him. Last year we used to meet almost every week, because we did shows together. I would play for him at Privilege [in Ibiza, Spain]. And this year it feels like we are missing each other, everywhere we go. It will be cool to catch up with him."

Will his fitting hit song from last year, "Bromance," make it into his set? Well, Avicii has promised a few surprise treats for the audience in Belgium. "I'm probably gonna drop around four new songs and three of them I've never played before -- both originals and remixes."

The Tomorrowland Festival takes place this weekend in Boom, Belgium. Avicii will hit the main stage Saturday at 7 p.m.
