Pitbull Says 'Give Me Everything' Offers Summer 'Escape'

Rapper says he 'loves' competing against Adele, LMFAO and others for Summer Jam crown.

Earlier this week, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine declared the race for the [article id="1666723"]2011 Summer Jam crown[/article] all but over, calling his band's [article id="1667112"]"Moves Like Jagger"[/article] single not only the summer's best song, but, really, the only song.

While we suspect he was joking, Levine could probably learn a thing or two by glancing at the Billboard Hot 100 -- which features plenty of other Summer Jam contenders, including LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and, of course, Pitbull's massive "Give Me Everything," which topped the chart last week and is already his biggest single to date.

Given the track's success, it shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that Pit considers the Summer Jam sweepstakes to be far from over -- in fact, thanks to assists from Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer, he likes his chances of winning the whole thing.

"You've got Ne-Yo, you've got Afrojack, you got Nayer, you got myself ... when you put that in together, it becomes a paella -- which is almost like a gumbo, different seafoods," Pitbull told MTV News. "And with the records this summer, us competing against them, I love it, because that just goes to show how big 'Give Me Everything' is.

"I mean, the Adele record is an amazing record -- she was #1 here for numerous weeks, and we were #1 for so many weeks in the U.K. -- it's kind of like a tradeoff," he continued. "You've got LMFAO with a great record also ... guys that I have a lot of respect for, I've worked with them so many times and I congratulate them, I'm happy for those guys. So, when you see that battle for #1, with such great records, that means it's a great summer."

Though he'd be thrilled if "Give Me Everything" ended up dominating the summer airwaves, Pitbull admits that, in a lot of ways, it's not as important helping others escape from the worries of everyday life. Because, truly, that's what any great Summer Jam should do.

"People need to escape from everything that's going on. And ... if they're going to spend the last $20 they made -- and they only made $50 for the week -- they want to spend having a good time, not running into drama," he said. "So I'm more than blessed to be a part of this summer and the great music out there."
