Big Sean has been watching the throne, literally. The Detroit rapper, whose [article id="1666861"]Finally Famous snagged the #3 spot[/article] on next week's Billboard albums chart, got to watch Jay-Z and Kanye West craft their highly anticipated Watch the Throne album, but don't expect him to give away the goods.
Sean did confirm to MTV News that he didn't land a spot on the album — not that he's stressing it. "No, I didn't make it," Sean said on the set of his [article id="1666886"]"Marvin & Chardonnay" video shoot[/article] earlier this week. "But it's all good. I was there while they were doing it, applauding them up."
The album was made available for pre-order on Monday, and though no release date has been officially confirmed, the ship date on customer receipts is listed as "2011-08-02." Kanye West took to Twitter to plug the LP and name drop Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, writing, "Watch The Throne cover by Riccardo Tisci. Pre-order album at www.watchthethrone.com."
Other than a few tweets from industry insiders like Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, and positive [article id="1664116"]reviews from artists like Swizz Beatz[/article] and [article id="1666640"]CyHi the Prynce[/article], mum has been the word on Watch the Throne. So, when Sway pressed Sean, he too gave a glowing but brief review.
"Man it's just some good-ass songs on there," he said. "I don't know if they want me to give away any of the titles, but you'll hear it. You'll know what I'm talking about. Just even the intro is like, damn!"
