After some hoopla was made over the fact that [artist id="501686"]Britney Spears[/artist] didn't write any of the tracks on the U.S. version of [article id="1661628"]Femme Fatale,[/article] the songstress is making up for it elsewhere. MTV News has confirmed that Spears wrote a track for Selena Gomez's June album release.
While a rep for Gomez couldn't confirm the name of the song, Ace Showbiz reported last week it is called "Whiplash."
Spears has, in fact, co-written more than a dozen songs for five out of her seven albums over the course of her career. She even helped pen two of her singles, "Everytime" and the Madonna collaboration "Me Against the Music." She also wrote a song called "Scary" for the Japanese version of Femme Fatale.
[article id="1660269"]Gomez has said[/article] she's quite a huge Spears fan and told MTV News that she plans to include a Britney Spears tribute on her upcoming summer tour. "We are working on a few cover songs. We are working on a Britney tribute, which I'm so stoked about, 'cause I love Britney. I was like, 'I have to do it.' I wanna do a mash-up of all her songs and just go for it," she said. "We're gonna do a little tribute. We're gonna do her hits, ' ... Baby One More Time,' and then I think we're going to try to incorporate 'Toxic' and that phase. And then we might do some of her recent, new stuff."
