Nearly two months after [article id="1651223"]suffering a miscarriage, Lily Allen[/article] is reportedly planning to marry beau Sam Cooper.
According to the Daily Mail, Cooper popped the question to the British songstress while they were vacationing in Indonesia over the Christmas holiday. He proposed to her on a balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean, the newspaper reports. They then celebrated their engagement at the hotel bar, where they drank champagne.
"Lily was telling everyone that she and Sam had just got engaged — they could not keep the smiles off their faces," a source said. "It couldn't have been more romantic. The resort is just so peaceful and picturesque."
The couple began dating in the summer of 2009, and a source tells the British newspaper that they have been trying to deal with her miscarriage. "It has been a terrible time for Lily and Sam, but they are totally in love with one another," the source explained. "It all came out of the blue — but Lily was overwhelmed and they are both overjoyed. They can look to the future now."
The Sun reports that the singer is overjoyed by the engagement. "Lily is absolutely beaming and emotional at the same time. She had no idea Sam was going to propose and said 'Yes' instantly," a source said. "He's been her rock for her since the couple lost their baby and she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him."
While there hasn't been any official word on the engagement, Allen did tweet about her vacation. "I'm on holiday. Thank the Lord. X," she wrote on December 19. Days later she added, "Happy Holidays everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx."
In the past Allen has gushed about Cooper, an upmarket decorator and owner of a building company, saying, "Sam treats me differently. He's told me he'll look after me forever. That's what I've always wanted — someone to look after me. We've never had one argument and there's absolutely nothing about him that annoys me. He's not impressed by what I do."
Allen joins a few other newly engaged celebrity couples, including [article id="1654957"]LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian[/article] and [article id="1654972"]Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied[/article].
