On Wednesday, word started spreading around the Internet that the hit TV show "Dancing With the Stars" was close to nailing its biggest casting coup yet. According to RadarOnline (which broke the story based on quotes from an unnamed source who was apparently close to the discussions), Lindsay Lohan was in talks to join the next cast of the show.
However, according to Lohan's reps, the troubled actress has no intention of cutting a rug once a week on national television. When asked by MTV News whether or not Lindsay was in talks with the producers of "Dancing With the Stars," her publicist simply replied, "No, she isn't."
The producers of "Dancing With the Stars" dismissed the idea more passively, telling MTV News that they "don't respond to casting rumors." According to the source in the Radar story, those producers "have had Lindsay on their wish list of castmates for a very long time."
Lohan would have had the time to devote to the weekly program, as she was recently dropped as the star of "Inferno," a biopic of legendary porn actress Linda Lovelace ("Deep Throat") that has had a rocky production schedule thanks to Lohan's legal troubles. (The producers of "Inferno" replaced Lohan with "Watchmen" star Malin Akerman.)
Lohan has been undergoing treatment for her drug issues at the Betty Ford Center since October — a stint that appears to be going well (she was recently given driving privileges for her progress and good behavior). According to mother Dina Lohan, Lindsay's progress has been exceptional. "[She's] happy and relaxed," she said. "She's been in a couple of facilities, but this one, to me, has really changed her."
